When I was a little girl, there was an advert for 'Frosty Boy Icecream' (I think they're called 99s in England and perhaps dairy whip in the States?) which said "often licked and never beaten" which I as a 4 year just couldn't get. My older (8 year sister) despaired that I didn't get the pun. As much as she explained licked was an old-fashioned term for beaten, I still didn't get it. Funny how you remember random things like that...
