A transit map of the Milky Way

This is very cool.  Samuel Arbesman created the "Milky Way Transit Authority" as a schematic representation of the relationship of major points in our galaxy.

We, of course, are way, WAY out in the suburbs, circling that little "Sol."  Imagine for a moment the immense congestion (?and traffic) at the galactic center.

Then consider that the Milky Way galaxy is one of approximately 100,000,000,000 in the known universe.  Absolutely humbling.
