A "fast draw" demonstration

This is an old video of Bob Munden demonstrating his "fast draw" skills.  I've Splicd out the first 90 seconds (btw, a useful tool for those of you who post videos on blogs) in order to skip over his self-aggrandisement.

I'll preempt the expected comments re him firing toward the camera.  He's firing blanks for this demonstration, and a blank is fully capable of breaking a balloon via the expulsion of hot air (and it also requires somewhat less precise accuracy to achieve the effect).  That's explained in the Reddit thread.

He must have spent thousands of hours practicing his technique.  But he is fast...

  1. This is even more impressive considering that he is using a single action revolver. That means he has to cock the hammer before each shot. Unfortunately this is all offset by the fact that he has decided to don a cardboard sheriff's star.

  2. Ha! Impressive indeed, but that cocky smile after he shoots makes me not want to join him for a beer after the interview.

  3. Saw this guy shoot in the summer of 1970. At first, I thought that there must be some "sleight of hand". But he quickly proved that he really was that fast!
