How to tie your shoelaces

  1. I've tied my shoes like that for years before seeing this video. Despite that, my shoelaces still come loose from time to time. Less than they would otherwise, I'm sure, but to say that it will never come loose by itself it not correct. I imagine that the shoelaces pictured above (thin, flat, and apparently cotton) lend themselves much better to this than the puffy, rounded laces that most of my shoes have come with recently. With my laces, I usually end up making a knot in each lace just where it exits the last eyehole of the shoe. That knot won't fit through the eyehole, which ensures that even if the laces unknot where they tie together, the shoes will stay on the foot snugly until I can correct them.

Maybe I think too much about shoelaces.
