Lady in distress

The painting above, by Gustave Doré, shows the plight of Andromeda, who was chained to the rock by her mother Cassiopeia in an effort to appease Poseidon, who had been angered by Cassiopeia's bragging.

Those who appreciate fine art will take note of the beautiful detailing of the waves breaking on the rock.

I hadn't realized until now that not far from Andromeda's constellation is the one representing Cetus - the sea monster depicted here trying to nibble at her toes.

  1. My neo-plasticism pals would call that painterly...and sneer like only artists can to each other...but the guy painted a symphony...undeniably
