Job Voyager


One of the most interesting items I've ever published in TYWKIWDBI is the Baby Name Wizard at NameVoyager (the link for which seems not to be working right now). In that same tradition, an interactive chart has been generated depicting jobs in the United States from 1850-2000.

The image above is a screencap; at the link you can click on individual items to see the pattern of change over time and the distribution of sexes in each occupation. One weakness is that the high number of different occupations makes the identification and trends for each one more difficult to assess, and the immense loss of farm jobs overwhelms all other data in the chart.

Still, it offers an interesting site for exploration.
