This is real "riparian stress"

Many or most environmentally conscientious resort and water-based communities enact regulatory measures to protect the shorelines ("riparian" regions) of their lakes and rivers. Residents and developers often complain, especially when such restrictions limit building and recreation opportunities. Striking a balance between the needs of the community and the needs of the environment is a delicate and difficult task. Posted above are three images of what happens when access to shorelines is unrestricted.
