The world's tallest man

Robert Wadlow, 8'11", standing next to his father. He died at age 22, apparently of sepsis from a minor infection, in the pre-penicillin era of 1940.

  1. Scaling off my screen, it appears that the elder Mr. Wadlow stands about 73 inches tall.

  2. I am from a small city in Illinois. Robert Wadlow was from the St Louis area. He used to travel around the region for all to see. He was a particular favorite of children.

In fact I knew a guy that saw Robert. I was told that back in the days when Main Street was lined with businesses sporting awnings, Robert Wadlow could reach up flat footed and touch the signs above the awnings.
