Cool zoo design

Does anyone know where this is? The photo was uncredited when I found it.

  1. The kiddie section of the Bronx Zoo has one of those, but I can't tell if it's the same one.

  2. There is a similar set-up at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, where people can pop their heads up inside the penguin habitat. I think it serves as "enrichment" for the penguins, as much as a thrill for visitors.

  3. Thanks, Tom. A Google Image search with those keywords does yield some similar pix. Perhaps it's a common zoo feature worldwide.

  4. It's a great idea, but be ready to crawl through some really skinny tubes to retrieve you child.

    Skinny for me, anyway.

  5. Perhaps? Although I think I also remember seeing these at the zoo in San Diego.

  6. We also have a similar setup at the Houston Zoo, although it is not the one in the picture.

  7. Detroit Zoo. They have this for prairie dogs. Normally adults don't fit in there.

  8. They have these in the Nashville Zoo but I think they're dome-shaped there.

  9. The Indianapolis Zoo has a similar set-up with the domes being round as opposed to cylindrical. You can also enter their desert building and peek into the dens through a glass wall.

  10. There is an exhibit like that at the MN zoo.

  11. I guess I need to get out more often...

  12. There's a similar exhibit at the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence. It's a lot of fun when the prairie dogs are out and looking around.

  13. Only prairie dogs, though? I wanna see the underside of a big nasty lion or a giraffe, from worms' eye view!
