A typewriter... with multiple fonts

Advertised in National Geographic, this typewriter was capable of producing two different fonts at any given time; the user could switch between them just by turning a dial.

The fonts included italics, "handwritten" script, and Cyrillic and other foreign lettering. It was also lightweight (aluminum) and portable.

This product was available to your grandmother. In 1918! (via)

  1. All right, where can I get one. My boss asked me if I needed a new computer, and I asked for an IBM Selectric III with Correcting Ribbon. This looks even better!
