Federation-style home, NSW

Click the photo to view this very interesting house from about 1900. Notes at the Flickr site indicate that this is "St. Helena" on Torrington Road, the home of a "notorious" newspaper editor, John Norton.

It's not, in my view, a particularly attractive home from the outside, but is interesting because it appears to be placed cliffside with a large verandah and what I believe is called a "widow's walk" on the roof, more often associated with the homes of New England ship captains.

This photo comes from the Powerhouse Museum Collection, which appears to have about a thousand historic photos of Australia. Well worth exploring, for those with time and interest.
