You know this bear's name

The man next to the bear is army lieutenant Harry Colebourn, who was en route to a training camp during World War I when he bought the bear cub from a hunter for $20. He named the bear after his home town and eventually smuggled it back to Britain.

You know the bear's name.

Hint: The lieutenant was from Canada. He named the bear cub after his home town.

Don't know? See the "comments" section.

  1. Lieutenant Colebourn was from Winnipeg, so he named the cub "Winnie."

Eventually he donated her to the London Zoo, where she became a great favorite of Christopher Robin Milne, the son of a local playwright.

And now you know the rest of the story...

  2. For those of you who don't know, (my hometown) Winnipeg is 200 miles north of Fargo, North Dakota:

  3. It's Winnie "the Pooh" ^_^

She was brought in to comfort Colebourn after he returned from war, mentally distressed from what he had experienced, refusing any human interaction.
