U.S. Marines - conducting traffic checks in the U.S.?

The press release above seems to indicate that U.S. Marine military police will be working with the California Highway Patrol, conducting traffic stops to check sobriety of drivers.

It sounds like a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act (military not allowed to perform civilian law enforcement duties), but I'm no expert regarding the law or on military deployment in domestic situations. Maybe they only get involved if the driver is active duty? Perhaps some discussion of this will show up in the days to come.
