Bilingual road sign in Wales

When officials creating the sign asked for a Welsh translation of the text at the top, they thought the reply they received was what they needed.

Unfortunately, the e-mail response to Swansea council said in Welsh: "I am not in the office at the moment. Please send any work to be translated".

  1. You'd have thought that the speed with which the reply came back would have been the first hint that something was up. No matter how good a translation agency is, it's going to take more than a few seconds to come back with the text.

Bit weird that the out of office wasn't in both Welsh and English too but I'm betting it is now. :P

  2. Well this was quit unfortunate for officials creating the post, however, the auto generated replies are always very fast so the officials would have noticed that this was an auto generated mail. On the other hand the respondent would have also set the auto message in both English an Welsh.
