Teach Your Children - "Myrmekiaphila Neilyoungi"
Maybe if I become famous, someone will name a spider after me. That's the honor that has just been bestowed on Neil Young, with the appellation in the title now identifying a trapdoor spider in Alabama.
"Young is not the first musician to have a creature named after him. A species of beetle that looks as if it is wearing a tuxedo -- the whirligig beetle, or Orectochilus orbisonorum -- was named earlier this year after the late rock 'n' roll legend Roy Orbison and his widow Barbara."
While searching for an image to accompany this entry, I passed over those of trapdoor spiders and searched YouTube for an appropriate Crosby-Stills-Nash-Young entry, finally selecting "Teach Your Children." Ironically, that's a C-S-N version from 1977 - without Neil Young - but I like the music so much that now I don't want to change it.

:-) Nice story! I heard about this too, on ABC Radio National yesterday, whilst driving to the uni. The interviewer concluded the interview with the observation that "Dr. Bond isn't sure whether Neil Young had heard the news" and "he hopes he's not arachnophobic ..."
