When there's a pause and you think they mean it's your turn to talk, or to answer what they asked, and they have a delay too, so they jerkily continue talking again at the same time as you start to talk, and then the delay somehow is gone and you hear each other talking simultaneously and both awkwardly stop and wait. Then start again at the same time. And stop again. Maybe we should say /over/ at the end of every blurt, like with CB radios, and codify those fast phatic burbles as /please continue, I'll wait for you to say /over/. Or do it like Chantho did in the Utopia episode of Doctor Who. She began everything she said with /Chan/ and ended with /tho/.
