Emerald green aka Paris green aka copper(II) acetate triarsenite is toxic because when damp it leaks arsine AsH3 into the air which is so toxic and volatile that it has been proposed a chemical warfare agent. It was modified into Lewisite aka β-chlorovinyldichloroarsine which was more stable and equally toxic. I don't think either was "used in anger".BobTheScientisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02038631019672961663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912713243046142041.post-60355656159056100392015-07-07T07:47:51.059-05:002015-07-07T07:47:51.059-05:00I believe there was a _Doc Martin_ episode where a...I believe there was a _Doc Martin_ episode where an old lady was slowly being poisoned by the arsenic in her bedroom's ancient wallpaper.

Lurker111
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912713243046142041.post-21872338524035737762015-07-06T18:07:41.315-05:002015-07-06T18:07:41.315-05:00I remember the same having been suggested as contr...I remember the same having been suggested as contributing to the death of Napoleon -

http://www.amnh.org/explore/news-blogs/on-exhibit-posts/poison-what-killed-napoleon

I probably should have included that when I wrote the post.Minnesotastanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01382888179579245181noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4912713243046142041.post-47572131085614182412015-07-06T15:32:45.916-05:002015-07-06T15:32:45.916-05:00Seems that wearing the clothing did have its effec...Seems that wearing the clothing did have its effects: "19th century journals reported of children wasting away in bright green rooms, of ladies in green dresses swooning and newspaper printers being overcome by arsenic vapors."
