The dark side of the moon in color


It's a "gravity map" which "shows variations across the moon's surface caused by both surface irregularities and a lumpy interior. The red sections indicate relatively high gravity."

    1. That would be a more accurate way to phrase it; I carried over the conventional term from the Live Science source (I don't know which term NASA used).
