Plastic in the stomach of a sea turtle

I've previously blogged about the death by plastic of the albatrosses of Midway Island.  ABC News of Australia now reports similar conditions affecting sea turtles.
A green sea turtle has been found dead on a New South Wales beach with 317 pieces of plastic in its digestive system. The turtle was found washed up at Ballina, in the state's north, earlier this month.

Australian Seabird Rescue spokeswoman Rochelle Ferris says it is the most shocking case she has seen in 15 years. She says there is no doubt the plastic killed the animal.

  1. That is horrible. We really need to stop producing the stuff and find an alternative. Too much wildlife is dying because of it. Personally I refuse to buy plastic products, glass is heavier but if it saves the wildlife it's worth building some muscle.
