  1. I can't find a way to message you but I guess this format is as good as any! I adore your blog. It's a really excellent mix of all things smart, quirky, and just, right up my alley. It's so refreshing to find a place to enjoy so many different types of interesting information and entertainment. VERY GOOD! Your interests are so disctintive, I kind of feel like I know you just from following your posts. That's strange and refreshing. Someone out here really appreciates your effort. You seem like a person who I would definitely liek to hang out with, and maybe play some trivial pursuit. I noticed you have quite a long list of blogs you follow. You should try lifeinlegacy.com It's not a blog. It's an obituary page I think you might enjoy. -steph

  2. Thank you, steph, for the comment. I think what this blog is doing is attracting a group of people with similar wide interests and different knowledge bases. The result is a rather congenial grouping, because the comments on this blog are much more positive and helpful than on many other blogs. See for example the quick response to my queries about the "masked child." That kind of group contribution to a post is what makes it more pleasant for me to blog.

  3. Stan - Have you ever seen video of the USMC Silent Drill Platoon? Some incredible stuff - also done with fixed bayonets. Particularly amazing when the Marines throw the rifles at each other and catch them, or swing them above their heads and catch them bayonet-down. Also, on YouTube, check out the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo for some neat military band and drill performances from all over the world.
