School for Crippled Children

New York c. 1908. "Feeble-minded in cripple school" is the non-PC caption for this classroom scene at the East Side Free School for Crippled Children, 155-157 Henry Street. George Grantham Bain Collection glass negative.
Found at Shorpy, and as with all Shorpy images, click the photo to enlarge to fullscreen size for visual exploration. I'm fascinated by the chairs. Fine woodwork, fancy iron scrollwork, and what appears to be ?adjustable thigh supports? Fixed to the floor, but otherwise probably potentially more comfortable than modern plastic school chairs.
